High Speed Satellite For Broadband Deprived Users

Cnet reports on the announcement of a new satellite system:
Using satellites perched above the Earth's orbit, Hughes Network Systems will transmit data, voice and video traffic to multiple sites through various service provider partners including America Online, Earthlink, Juno Online and Pegasus Solutions.
Hughes executives said the delivery speed will be comparable to that of cable modems.
Hughes Network Systems said they would focus their efforts to areas that currently do not offer cable or dsl at a subscription price around $10-20 higher a month.

We have a sattelite internet connection in the basement, right next to the machine with a cable modem, browsing it loads sites faster than the cable modem, playing games I wouldn't know though, not my machine and the machine is old and sucks 
I prefer my SDSL over both though heh!
