Check this FAQ:

And try all the solutions on it ... post back if none of them work, or stick around for further suggestions...

I tried most of those. I dont think that some of them dont apply. I played diablo fine for like three months then i took a month off and came back and it started. I know that i dont have a graphx card and if I bought one would that definitly fix the problem?
I have done everything blizzard can think of. I even reformated C: drive. I think it wapened between v1.04 and v1.06
want the D2 error file E-mail me

Well, based on your specs, your graphics card is integrated into the motherboard. Have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers for your video card?
There have been quite a number of people who have integrated video cards that are having problems with Diablo II. You said you have been in contact with Blizzard Tech Support, so you've already talked to the best people to ask about it.
Waiting for the next D2 patch MIGHT fix your problem, but for now, you may wanna try buying a cheap GeForce2 MX card and try to install it on your system (using the latest detonator drivers) to see if Diablo 2 works on it. If it won't work, you can always bring it back to the store for a refund...
But don't do that just yet. There may be suggestions from the other people in this board that may be able to help you, so stick around...
p.s. You can attach your error file using this forum's "attach file" feature so that we may take a look at it...

Oh, and if you haven't done it yet, try uninstalling D2, do a complete scandisk/defrag, and then reinstall D2 and manually apply the patch offline.

My D2 Error file

I emailed blizzard about the same problem you are having, and they told me, that in the 1.08 patch, there is a bug for some people.. I tested this and it worked, so anyway.... If you click on or near your characters feet, the game will crash, showing some sort of error, can be fatal exception or assertion failure, its like different every time for me.. but if i click on my characters feet, it crashes.. The game will not crash until I do that. Now you may think that's its just a matter of time, and it crashes for you, that you are not clicking on or near your guy's feet... but you usually really are, you just can't tell cuz you are clicking all around in the heat of battle and plus lag can make you do it.. Anyway, in the 1.09 patch coming out in about a week or sooner hopefully, this is supposed to be fixed

Is your computer overclocked? Cause that can cause crashes like this.

one of the problems with built in graphics chips and sound chips is that in D2 and some other games they want ALL the available RAM. built in graphics chips use system RAM for video RAM and this can cause a lot of problems when gaming. those types of boards are great for business use but not so hot for home use. this is mainly due to lazy programmers which blizzard has in abundance. but i doubt that moving to a real vid card will solve this particular problem since it is probably related directly to the chipset itself and u will probably have to wait for blizzard to get off this "EVERYONE MUST PARTY EVEN IF THEY PLAY SOLO OFFLINE!!" kick and start fixing problems.
