I recently installed directx 9.0 on my computer because it was required to play midnight club 2., but when i play midnight club 2, the screen sometimes goes black in the middle of the game while i am playing. Can anybody help me?
I am running a:
Compaq Presario 6000 with
120 gb hard drive
512 mb ram
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 2.0 ghz processor
GeForce4 MX 420 with 64 mb memory
Windows XP
Direct X 9.0

It seems strage that the video feed would just drop out but I think that the videocard may be the cause of the trouble. The GF4 MX series cards are not well equiped to deal with dx9 games, as a result they often run slowly or not at all. The best solution to your problem is to upgrade your video card. If you are looking for value check out the Radeon 9500 Pro or 9600 Pro. If you want the best performance grab a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra. Word to the wise, the gfx 5200 is not a good buy at all.
But before we get ahead of ourselves and plunk down money for a new card, make sure that you are running the latest DX9, which at the time of posting is DX9.0b. Hope this helps!

The blank screen might be due to overheating...installing another fan is easy and might solve the problem.
