Some Hope For UK Dial-Up Users

Yahoo reports:

LONDON (Reuters) - British Telecommunications Plc announced plans on Monday to make high-speed Internet connections more widely available in the UK, where broadband penetration rates lag well behind most industrialized nations.

BT said in a statement it will introduce ``rate adaptive'' technology that will allow it to supply always-on ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) Internet links to more than 90 percent of customers connected to an enabled exchange, against 70 percent at present.
