For the longest time in TG, I posted only in the General Forum... then I wandered into the FPS forum and stayed there for a good few months... Then I got tired of the FPS forum and went back to the General Forum, and that's the only place I really go to nowadays...
As for OTS.net, I also mainly check the General forum, but I do go into R&R now and then, or Hardware if I needed any help/advice/tips.
So many forums, so little time... if I spread myself too thin, I might end up compromising quality posts...
BTW, I can say that every single UBB/VB forum on the 'Net has this imbalance of a whole crapload of posts more in the General forum than in any other "specific" forums... I've seen ratios go as high as 50,000:500.

i dont like posting on tg. i dont know i like ots better for some reason. its more homey and every time i post it seems the post gets taken off. laggy only moves the ones he does not like wargy just takes them off i dont like that. and now with the new forum they are starting i really dont like what wargy said about the new forum. like no [tg] members will be moderating it. and only stright shit no messing around or anything that sux. there was alot of other things but heh whatever.
Posted by: Pepsi-Man[OTS]
if the new [tg] forum turns out as bad as i am expecting it to turn out with what wargy said im leaving [tg] and going strictly ots
Posted by: Bishop
I can't keep up with TG general forums.
and for some reason the new posts and the old posts are all red, all the way down the page.
just gave up after a week, although I still check it from time to time.

Wargy's new forum will be the gateway between our reality and the bizarro world.

well, I orginally came to OTS to post in the Console Gaming Forum, but I gradually made my way into the Gen. Off topic and Rants and Raves. What I wish would happen is to have more people post in the console forum. It seems like the only time people post is when I post a long ass rant about Dreamcast. I know there isnt much going on in the console industry (sort of a "transitional" phase) but I think there could be some more posts. Here are some sugestions...
-game reviews
-Previews
-general news
-release list
-and the occasional system rant
well, I just realized that this post probably beongs in the Suggestions forum. I'm posting on my dreamcast right now and it would bea big pain in the ass to change. So, Laggy, if you want , go ahead and move my post to where ever you feel it should go. thanks

Well recently on most days TG General forum is slower than this General\Off Topic. No one posts anymore, except the EQ thread.
Posted by: TotalRecall
Since the new "Latest Topics" feature with vBulletin, I rarely go to an individual forum. If you click that, it shows you the latest topics, and has an arrow beside the ones with new posts. I do the same thing on TG's forums.
Posted by: Xoncide
Well i post on the SC stratigy forum, general forum, and other forums that look intersting at TG
I don't really post at OTS.net but i think im gonna start...

I can't read the above and not say anything. First off, I believe in the rights of the site owner to do with whatever they feel is best for the site. Both laggy and wargy have done incredible things with their sites, and without their particular visions on what they wanted to see, none of this would have happened.
Having said that, I agree that it is easy to become territorially attached to a particular site. The people who frequent both boards (OTS and TG) often are the same folks who are part of a community of online friends that have developed over years. It has not surprised me that the talented geniuses I hang out with online go off and do incredible stuff and surprise us all.
What disturbs me most, is with that attachment, people often think that things should stay the same, and fight change. They are often outspoken in their views toward the site administrator and threatening to leave if change comes. Its very much like marrying someone you like because of the way they are, and after marriage start changing them into something else. Or an even better analogy, would be to criticize someone with a green thumb for their choice of tomato variety, rather than enjoy the fruits of their labors. Some folks will find something bad in anything.
I am not criticizing Pepsi for his views, not at all, but I did feel that another view should be presented. None of this would be possible, in this forum or the ones at TG if Laggy and Wargy had not taken the tedious steps to create a place for our online commmunity to hang out. I applaud them both and will never tell them that what they are doing is unacceptable or question the direction they decide to take.

This is just to reinforce what Labby posted in this thread:
I think it doesn't take a genius to figure out that OTS.Net and TG.Org are two different sites with their own distinct style. Even though Wargy and I have the same basic goal, we tend to do it our own way, and that's what makes it good. If we were both doing it the same way, trying to achieve the same ends by using the same tools and the same strategies, then there would not be a need for two separate sites and two separate forums. We would just merge and be done with it.
But we have different ways of approaching things. He has his way, I have my way. And we stay out of each other's hair and be neutral as much as possible, for the sake of our own members, hehehe... But we do fight tooth and nail to defend our own sites if faced with adversity, You've seen Wargy done it in his forums, and you've seen me do it here. Being territorial is actually a normal thing in this case, and it is usually driven by intense loyalty or intense disgruntlement. We both try to please our members as best as we can. But we do it differently.
If Wargy wants change, he's entitled to it. It's ironic, because when I put up the site (and the forums) last year, many people were saying "Hey Laggy, your forums are too ****in strict! Lighten up a bit!" or "You have too many rules, why can't we post ANYTHING we want?" or "Lose those damn filters, it's annoying!" and of course "Why can't your forums be like TG, where anything goes?" It's funny how things come full circle
In any case, two different sites catering to two different communities (albeit slightly) is not a bad thing. You can visit both, or you can visit just one, it really makes no difference. It's up to you and what you like to see, say and hear. Wargy and I have the same ultimate goals, but we plan to do it differently. You can either support one of us, or support both of us.
The choice, as always, as yours
Posted by: Xoncide
i support you both!!! but, i thought wargys ultimate goal was to take over the world... how can you both do that?
Posted by: MK
I believe Wargy said he is also keeping the forums we are on now. What he is moving towards is seperate from TG.

You really think I'd let Wargy have all the fun?
Besides, it depends on which "world" we're talkin' about
Posted by: Auruspex
i think what MK is speaking about is ChaosAD.org
Posted by: Xoncide
so much for staying netural...
Posted by: Airbladus
I believe what Wargasm said was that he will only be keeping TG's public forum if there's enough demand for it. I could be wrong on this one though.
Posted by: MK
I bet you that he will keep all the ones that get lots of traffic. Such as Public, FPS, D2, etc...I would not think that he will trash them all..if most.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Huh? The FPS page gets lots of traffic? Heheheh
j/k
Posted by: MK
Just cause I never update it. Check the forums, they get major posts.
Posted by: AK47
Laggy- these forums are considered strict?? damn, I though they were pretty laid back. Hell, the fact that Im able to post such rambling garbage filled posts about dreamcast is amazing to me. good work man.
