i know someone else asked this question but i cant find the original posting so ill ask again what is a decent free website other than angelfire to try out my new page to see if it receives enough good responses to warrant paying for a real provider and domain name.

my site is http://www.angelfire.com/comics/jet...ter/index.html/

and yes i did it in front page express 2.0 and it is still being developed. it is currently up to assess interest and comedic value if i deem it to have those qualities i will add more features and areas along with content

DUH!! i found Darky's post bout 3 posts down but my question is still which of the free ones is the best since i plan on moving to a paid provider if things work out and enough people like what im doing and the theme of my page is received well.

Try searching the database here.

Finding a web host isn't too hard, unless you need cgi. If you still can't find one, ICQ me.

ahhh finding one isnt the problem there are a LOT of em problem is picking one that is up a bit more often than angelfire heh.

if i do move the page to a pay host i dont want to pay more than 20$ amonth for it. 9$-15$ is more what im looking for. but i really dont know how long it takes for a website to use say 10gigs of bandwidth. i intend to keep my entire site under 10 megs total of space. since i intend to be picture heavy i have no idea how fast that bandwidth gets used.

FreeServers.Com is actually pretty good as far as free webhosts go, although you will wonder how long they'll stay up with no money-making condition for their hosting (no ads, etc).

You can't really expect 99.9% uptime on free webhosts - you do get what you pay for, no matter how much they pipe their features.

If you're going to < $10 route, you might wanna try HostRocket.Com's Economy Plan for $9.95, or my host, F5Hosting.Com, which has a Basic Plan for $10. They're both pretty good and very fast. Another great host is VenturesOnline.Com, which offers a $7.95 & $9.95 plans which is really great, altho you're limited to 2GB and 5GB bandwidth, respectively...

With my experience of free webhosts and my recent dealings with paid hosts, I can tell you that there is really no contest - paid hosts are worth the money, and they're a much better deal in the long run...
