computer crash

I have Windows ME and I turned on the computer with an old floppy disk that apparently infected the computer. Now it won't start up. I've tried to use the HP recovery disk but it won't complete the process because it says that it can't find the C drive. Please let me know how I can take care of this problem.

Sounds like your hard drive may have bit the dust.

Unfortunately, you don't have many options when you have a HP computer with only a recovery disc to work with.

Check in your bios to see if the hard drive is still recognized there or if it indicates that there is a problem with it.

You may also try to boot the computer in safe mode. If it's not recognizing the c: drive though, then that's probably not going to work, but it's worth a shot i guess.

This is pretty drastic, but it looks like you might need it:
