Custom Case Window?

Has anyone ever made a case window from scratch? With most window kits being around $30, I figure I can get a small sheet of plexiglass for a lot less at a hardware store. Then, I just need sealer or adhesive and some molding. Anyone?

I've though about doing that... but 30 bucks isn't much to just get everything right there. It's worth the time it would save.

slinky, me and a friend might be doing some case mods sometime this summer. watch your heat though plexiglass is an insulator

yep, and I wonder about those who add fluorescent lights in their cases also. These guys must have H2O cooling.

I've got enough "fanage" in my case to keep it cool. I'm going to try to create cheap window, and I have an old spare case I can practice on. I'll keep everyone posted.

I'm absolutely lost. You put a window on a computer case? Are you looking for little bytes running around? Do you like to watch your fan spin? Are you looking for smoke? 
You might as well put a window on a submarine.

Have you ever seen window and light kits? They're catching on, and I'm guessing they will be standard features on store-bought machines in a year or two. Here are a few that I found:

I think they are cool. I mean, if you're going to have a big space consuming metal box on, or under your desk, it might as well look interesting. I guess I'm just a cheap-ass, but I'm frustrated with prices, and think I can make a cheap one on my own

slinky, you want Doom3, and RTCW, you are gonna need a new vid card, that is gonna create more heat, i'm thinking 2 case fans min if you put in the window
