HELP!! registry problems

okay, i did something really stupid. my ie was opening to porn pages whenever i typed a url in the address bar. so i went into regedit, and found the urls my browser was going to and deleted all instances of them. and..u probably guessed that i didn't make a backup.

afterwards, explorer wouldn't open urls unless i manually typed http:// so i thought i would go in and add that to the registry.

now, everything (all extensions including exe, folders, preferences, etc) is being opened in my default browser, netscape. the address bar says something like... http://c:\winnt\regedit.exe
i can't open regedit or any other program for that matter, so i can't install and run some other registry editor?

the only programs i can use (because they were already opened before i edited the registry) are a text editor and internet explorer (at least no more porn), and of course, netscape will open.

im using windows 2k and i'm not on a network. is there some other way i can edit the registry??

somebody please HELP!!!!

well, if you've really fouled up the regististry and don't have a backup, it should be difficult if not impossible to fix. I reccomend just backing everything and reinstalling.

Also, if you want to get porn sites of of your history, use the history folder in your settings folder.

i can't back stuff up because everything is opened by netscape. i cant even run the system backup. as for the porn thing, it was some kind of virus that changed some registry values so that my internet explorer was poping up porn sites every time i opened the program - it really isn't a problem with the history.
