I have a Pentium III 450 mhz. What is its max speed? How can I overclock it?

www.overclockers.com

Unfortunately, we do not post tips on how to overclock processors here ... the site wenchy gave might be helpful, tho

As far as I remember, early P3's weren't drastically overclockable (those belonged to the Celerons during that day) - most you can squeeze out is probably around 50MHz-70MHz more if you're lucky

What they said.

And just for us to look at, why don't you give us the model number of the motherboard? Maybe we can direct you to a good CPU upgrade instead.

Its a standard Compaq Deskpro, I am getting a new computer, I do not want to overclock that at the moment.

It is very hard and very rare that you can Overclock an OEM computer. They usually put some kind of lock on the bios, not letting you change the FSB, Multiplier and voltages. You would need a new motherboard to overclock.

Dont bother, thr proc that of which you speak is slow enough that you will not make it any more usefull by Oclocking. Intel's P-III is also the hardes proc to overclock that intel has made post-pentium era.
