Regaining Internet Access

My daughter's computer is linked to our router, which provides internet access via a cable modem. Recently, her computer was so buggy that Iended up usin the manufacturer-provided System disk to wipe the hard drive clean and then rebuild it. Problem is, I can seem to get internet access anymore. I seem to have "installed" the network adapter but have been unable to locte the proper driver software, even with the original driver diskette that came with it. Any suggestions on what I need to do?

bypass the router and check that the comp is capable of accessing the net. when you reconnect the router, make sure the cable is seated properly.
