I have a friend that has a problem with his windows restarting on him at different times mostly over 20 min. He is running winxp with a 1200mHz processor with 376 mb ram. his cpu temp is 140 and it just doesnt shut down it reboots which is the weird part. he has already dLed the patch for the blasterworm. if anyone can help please do, hope I have included enough info ask if other is needed. Thanks a bunch

It would help to know what software/OS he is running.
In any case, he should make sure that his Startup and Recovery Options are not set to automatically reboot or write debugging information. He should check his event logs to see if anything was written on the shutdown.
I don't see that a reboot is weirder than a shutdown. Run the computer with the side removed from the case to see if it will run cooler and not have the symptoms noted in your post.

I'm not sure...but i think you need to remove the worm as well as patch your computer. Go to securityresponse.symantec.com for the removal tool/instructions. However, if its not giving him Remote Procedure Call errors, then it's not msblaster/

well, 60 is a bit on the high side, so it might be heat. it could also be a power problem.
as suggested above, open the case, clean any gunk away from fans and heatsink, and stick a floor fan in front of it. if that doesnt help, make sure the computer is on a ups.
