Game Soundtracks Search For Grammy Category, 40 Titles Submitted

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Adrenaline Vault has an article on the mission to set up a specific Grammy category for games:

The leadership of the Game Audio Network Guild – which is made up of musicians and composers involved in the interactive entertainment industry - recently submitted 40 game music soundtracks to the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences for the next awards show competition.

Game soundtracks have previously been included in other categories, such as Best Score Soundtrack, but they have not held their own category. Check out the list of soundtracks submitted by the Guild here.

This is a good move ... Japanese composers have been hugely overlooked because of the exclusion of game soundtracks in the awards... their work is highly underrated by Hollywood moguls...

Wow, thats a step in the right direction. I've always thought that a lot of game music deserved to be included in this type of consideration. There is a lot of composed game music out there that beats the pants off stuff that was in the movie releases.

Silent Hill 2 = best soundtrack ever.

I dunno, MGS2 had a pretty kickass soundtrack.
