I bought some s-video cable and hooked up my computer to my tv. I want to watch movies off my computer and project them on my tv. However, my computer recognizes my tv as an adapter and it just acts like an extension of my desktop. If I move my mouse off the computer screen it shows up on my monitor. This is annoying because my tv is two rooms away. Now, I goto run a movie using divx player and drag it off screen to fit on my tv somewhat. The player and my background show up but the movie doesn't seem to stream over. It's just dark. But i can move the player back on my screen and it is playing. Any ideas? Also when I goto full sceen mode it doesn't show up on my tv, just my screen. Hopefully someone out there has experienced what I'm going though.

Right click on desktop>properties>settings>advanced>...well...here it becomes a little tricky due to the fact that all display drivers are different, but it should be called something like "device selection". You need to make sure that your computer sees the TV as a primary device, and not just an extension as the desktop.
Oh, and if these are illegit divX, then i comdemn your piracy and blah blah blah.

the problem with making my tv a primary device is that then all my controls only show up on my tv, which is two rooms down. So if I wanted to click something I'd have to go back and forth a million times.
I guess I just don't understand that the movies appear blank on my tv, but not on my computer and I played some flash animation on my tv and it worked, so the streaming works.
