Windows 98 Product Key Code

I had to reformat my ibm aptiva pc. After the successful completion of system recovery, I was asked for the windows 98 product key code that is on the back of the manual for windows 98, that came with my pc.
Unfortunately, it was at this time I realized that I could not find the manual.
I'm at a loss as to what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I don't know any other legal way around it besides finding the manual with the product key.
I'm really not sure about this, but if the 98 disc came with the computer, maybe the place you purchased it from would have the ability to look up what the product key is for the disc they sold you.

did you check to see if the key was attached to your puter? On my Aptiva,my Win Me key was atached.

Contact IBM first, and ask for a replacement key. If they say no, try Microsoft. I called microsoft to get a Win98 key for my grandfathers computer (he tossed out the certificate of authenticity) and they gave on to me since they no longer support the OS.
