Anarchy Online Released?

Isn't today, the 27th, the day AO is due to be released? Did any of you that pre-ordered it get it?
We would really like to hear some reviews on it from someone that has actually gotten the game, and was not just part of the beta-testing. Sometimes people that take part in beta's seem to take a dislike to it and prejudge the game prior to final release.
Will be waiting to hear from anyone that has gotten it 
But .... if you were in the beta-testing, and would like to comment, maybe a poll will work?

Well ... I called the local software suppliers, BestBuy, Software Etc and it was not delivered in this area today. Went to the website and it looks as if SOMEONE is playing it, if the forums are right ... so guess we will wait! LOL

I was asking a couple of weeks ago. Enthusiasm seems light in OTS. And after all of the reading I did, everything seems to be a sci-fi twist to other RPG's. Still got mages, warriors, clerics and the others in between.

Wolf is planning on buying it, but would like to hear a few reviews on it first. We have checked out all of the websites about it and to him, Wolf, it sounds interesting. But then again B&W sounded interesting, and was, for 2-3 days hehe

It's crap.
Although, if you like cookie cutter mmorpgs then you'd probably like it.
I won't waste my time... I got bored of the MMORPG genre when I played UO and AC.
Someone is going to have to make a new style MMORPG before I'll play it.

i wont get it just because it looks like EQ. it looks to me likes its EQ with laser guns. i really detest the style of massive multi pay to play games that make the game into a FPS style first person belongs to quake HL the Duke and simulators it doesnt belong in the land of pay to play multi. but if u like EQ i imagine ull like AO too since its more of the same.
i just really like the way UO in 2D was done. i prefer 3rd person isometric views for RPG games. diablo style. thats one reason im really looking forward to NWN so much since if they deliver 1/4 of what was promised it will be the uber RPG to beat all RPG games

Well .... from reading "reviews" on some of the AO sites it seems that ppl that really like games like Quake, CS/HL, etc HATE IT ..... but the ppl that play EQ and UO really LOVE IT .... so I guess it mainly depends upon whatever type game you really like to get an "objective review".
I appreciate the responses, and I know Wolf does too, (and he would reply - if he wasn't spending his online/gaming time playing that Ugly Lizard in EQ)  hehe
JANNA .... when Siz was here Wolf mentioned that he "might" attempt to sell his UO account .... and Siz has shown an interest in it ..... but I think Wolf is going to hang on to it ... in case AO doesn't work out .... because when he gets bored with EQ .... he ALWAYS goes back to UO! hehe

yes im still kicking myself repeatedly for quiting my what would have been now a 3+year old uo account and getting my ethereal LLAMA!!!! but i was so mad about the loss of the Abyss shard when OSI turned on siege perilous i quite for almost a year. sheesh i relly wish i hadnt done that. soon as i canceled my account tho i was wishing i had it back to play again heh. if i had to pick now what the all time best game ever i would unhesitatingly pick UO i have played that more than i played diablo SC and broodwars combined. but its not for everyone i know nova tried it for a while and didnt like it. LBP was really getting into the game when i quite and i truly regret that i got so burned out and quite like that. now that steve garriot is no longer in charge of the game and has no say whatsoever they are doing a lot good things game wise adding a lot of new content. the active quest system is truly nice since it adds new content everyweek and will only get better as they tweek the bugs out and the programmers learn to use the system better to make quests available for all and not just those that happened to be buds with the seers in the old garriot driven system. quests are for everyone now not just the RP community.

I quit the damn game when they started all the new changes. That and my fighter went red for killing shepards and I couldn't get him back to blue. Happy with EQ now.

Nobody has made a good mmorpg yet. They are all exactly the same thing. UO was probably the closest to fun, yet I found that after a while, there was nothing left to do. Not to mention frustration factor.
I'm designing a mmorpg. One that will kick everyone's asses. Then I'm going to shelve the idea until I have a chance to make it. Cause I know that right now, no one would make it. It's too radical and different from the ones that are out there right now. Of course, no one is ever willing to make the different games, even though they end up being the good ones...

Well .... Wolf came home with AO last night  I knew he would hehe
After almost 2 hours of patches and the usual bugs of a new game, we finally got our first peek at the game! It's not all THAT bad!  hehe
Graphics are cool, music is good, but Wolf did say, "Damn! there is a lot of "stuff" to learn! hehe At 1 AM we decided it was time to call it a night, and take a closer look at it this weekend.
There is only 1 server working right now, (US), and there wasn't a lot of people playing. The ones that were .... were running around asking "How do I look? You look pretty kewl!" hehe That took place during the, normal 10 minutes of play time, before the "server went down", AGAIN! hehe
Chako, we wanted to let you know that the price at compUSA was $53.33, including tax .... so if you ever want us to purchase a game for you, let us know. The shipping to Canada can't be $20+, right? (I am sure you can buy them online for about the same price, but this is "just for in case" you can't)
Will let you know more after Wolf gets into the game, later this weekend.

Thanks Ellen. shipping can be expensive to the rugged great white north. Pony express only comes every 2 weeks.
Actually from what I saw it doesn't look like my kind of game. I am not one for playing massive online RPGs. Thanks for the thought though.

MY brother called and said he received his copy of Anarchy Online (and I just got D2X today), and since he has a singing gig out of town until Sunday, he said he's gonne leave the AO box in my room and have me try it out!
So if anyone has it, where can I find you tonight, and what names will you be using? Would be fun to try out this game, and if I like it, I may just go and buy it
p.s. Damn, now I have too much games to try out... I just started BG2: TOB last night, then I have D2X and AO ... and did I mention I still haven't opened my Tribes2 box yet? Man, I need to stop buying...

Yeah Ellie ... I just installed AO on my computer a while ago, but I can't even log in coz I need to have a CD key, and I can only receive the CD key if I register - but the registration page won't even load when I go to it! Really sucks...
So I went ahead and installed D2X, go to Bnet and tried to play a game using my new Druid - but I get disconnected after only 10 minutes, and I can't get back on ...
Sheesh, two new games, and both have shitty servers... Guess I'll just have to go back to playing Throne of Bhaal tonight

Frustrating ... tried connecting and reconnecting to AO, amid all the patches and stuff, and I still CAN'T even create a character...
Was EQ or UO this bad when they first launched? Sheesh, thank god I didn't buy this game ... hope my brother has more luck...

UO was pretty bad but not that bad when it first started. heh thats why i didnt get ot for like 6 months after release.
D2 i dont play the realms since the closed beta ended as they are still unplayable and i doubt they will ever be fixed since there is no ongoing income from blizzard sales to support the servers other than initial sales.
as for AO it will probably be a year before it is playable online

Well, if your a sci0fi fan, like me, who likes the idea of a huge PvP game, where your supposed to be roleplaying, but in truth, your running around, trying to level, and get better gear,to kill those rebel, or omniteck scum, then yah... buy it.
I've bought it, and graphically, its superiour to EQ (although, this mite not be true after SoL is released)
I never liked UO, simply because I dislike overhead games, period. especially 2d ones, thoguh i imagine it was a good game, i installed UO on my computer, and immediatly uninstalled it after about 3 hours of gameplay.
It really all depends on ones preferences.
Like scifi FPS type? buy AO
Like med-evil FPS type? buy EQ
Like Overhead 2d type? Buy UO (although, UO is not totally 2d, i do see 3d things, many, but i don't really play long enough to really tell, since i get naseaus whe i play it)
Those are just my byassed opinions, i myself and an EQ and AO fan, AO is really good for pvp =) EQ is not, since normally what winds up happening on a PVP server is, a level 20 melee char who thinsk hes badarse, camp the newbie fileds killing all the newbie chars, camping there corpses, ect,then the big arse lervel 60 (60 beeing the max level as of curretnt in EQ) melee comes along,kills the level 20, camps his corpse until it rots, and the level 2o wonders why he didn't stick to leveling, and all is well.
anyhow, again, byassed opinions, and don't play UO with janna, they'll loot you... =)

All MMORPGs pretty much start that way i think. I think ill give it a month to change before throwing it away. I'll prob be on UO (baja) and do the orc thingy. Say hi to Luminaros on AO if you see me

All of the comments above are true! But Wolf refuses to give up on the game ... he actually likes it when it is playable
If you get REALLY bored ... just check out some of the AO forums. You think D2 players whine? check these guys out! hehe
Laggy, yes UO and EQ was bad ... but to be honest, I don't remember them being THIS BAD! hehe The main problem, it seems, with AO is that they are trying to run this game with only ONE SERVER ..... EQ AND UO started out with SEVERAL servers! And there is "NO news about additional servers, any where to be found!" YIKES! 
But as Wolf says "I am going to stick this one out .... I like the idea of having the choice of "big time weapons" in place of swords and daggers .... for a change.
In the eyes of EOT (watching not playing) .... this game looks like a cross between UO/EQ/Quake/CS. Some of the features are kewl as hell, while others are still "in-active". So I guess it STILL boils down to ...... either try the game OR go play something else until they get it fixed! hehe
So ...... if you get at stuff like this .... then this is NOT the game for you to try, at this time! hehe
Wait for a couple months, then try it

I hope AO will get better soon. With "exodus" providing servers and the bugs getting ironed out of the TCP packet system, the game will be able to play (somewhat) decent.

Yeah, I stopped playing AO for a whle (mainly coz my brother is playing it right now - well, trying to, anyway), and I'll try it again this weekend when he's not in the house...
I got to create two characters (barely) ... Crinoslupus in Tir, and Lycanthropus in Omni-Tek .. both of em are Nano-Metaphysicists (or lanky mages, if you may) ... haven't really tried anything other than talk to the guide and practice my running and sitting down ... the longest I ever stayed online was 10 minutes...

I think theeMon has moved to one of the AO forums!!! There is someone over there "posting" everytime the game crashes, and it CRASHES a LOT! hehe
Laggy, it really has been pretty good today ... so your bro should be happy hehe It only crashes about every 15 minutes now BTW Laggy, could'nt you have picked out ez'er names? lol *EOT PICTURES WOLF TRYING TO TYPE IN* ....... /tell "whatever those names were Laggy said" hehe

When everquest first came out it was as buggy as AO is now. Ther servers were down almost 24/7 all the time, and look at EQ now, the most popular MMORPG yet.
All MMORPG's have a hard time when they first start up. AO is haveing problems just like EQ. So don't give up on the game just because its buggy now, its only been out a week for christ sake. If a few bugs, a little lag, and server downtime are discourageing you from playing a MMORPG, then your just not cut out for the MMORPG department. I'm sorry, but thats as simply put as it can get.
I rember back when Ruins of Kunark first came out, you think AO is bad now? You haven't seen anything yet. It was even worse when it first started (Quote from a RL best friend).
Baisically I'm repeating myself, but, its the honest truth.
