CD Burner problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

my cd burner is not reading any cds, when i insert a cd, the little cd icon next to my mouse cursor blinks a few times, but thats all it does. i double click on the cd-rw icon in my computer, but it opens up a blank window when a cd is inserted. the whole time the cd is in the drive, the light blinks, and after about 5 minutes, windows media player opens saying that the cd is an audio cd, but it is not, and it finds no tracks, but the light still blinks

what the hell?

Try getting the latest drivers for the device (if you use XP, go to the device mamger and click update driver). If that does not work try removing the device from the computer by deleting it from the device manager and then unpuging the IDE cable from the drive. Restart the system to make sure that the removal has been succesfull. Now reinstall the drive. This should completely solve the problem. My guess is that the cause is either bad drivers or a problem with Window's ability to use the drive.

Try cleaning the drive with a CD-ROM Lens Cleaner.
