F-Zero GX

Any Gamecube owners picked up a copy yet? I've put a couple hours into it, and I'm liking it. Lots of vehicles, powerups, tracks, etc (a la Gran Turismo series). Something cool, is the ability to use your memory with the upcoming arcade release of the game. You can use it to get special powerups, parts, cars, etc, that can't be found on the Gamecube. Then, all of it is transferrable through your memory card.

Fun so far.

Its on my rent list as Ive got 2 games on pre-order right now. Im hoping I get it next time.

Yeah I've been looking at all the reviews and its getting great scores. I'll pick it up eventually, but right now the next console game I'm getting is probably Soul Calibur 2 in the Xbox.

I just bought SC2 for the box and its quite fun.

Wish I still had the cube though... Fzero was definately somethin I was lookin forward to. Read the reviews and they all sounded good-- I espeically like the amount of difficulty that they all mentioned.

This game just keeps getting better. It can be pretty tough, even on easy mode.

Man, I'd love to get it, it looks like it will be such a great game! But theres a few problems here....

1) No Cash... (like usual)

2) My GameCube has been on the fritz lately... it sometimes just freezes up, and it really pisses me off, i gotta go and get that repaired somehow...

3) I'm debating whether I should get that or Soul Caliber 2 for the cube... looks pretty good to me, but I don't know yet... (still gotta worry about getting some cash first, so i got plenty of time to decide...)

But, I just gotta ask you Gunslinger, have you played around with the Emblem Editor yet? That is what I think I'm looking forward to the most! I love having ultimate customization.

I've looked at it, but have yet to actually apply it to anything. Thus, I can't tell you much about it other than just an initial impression: It looks rather simple...something they added as an afterthought. Didn't hold my attention long enough to mess around with it.

Oh yea? bummer, I was hoping in would have a lot of detail and stuff put into it, but oh well... can't win em all I guess...

So, mind if I ask, (cuz I'm gonna anyways, lol) But what's your favorite thing about the game so far?

Posted by: Gunslinger

I checked it out a little more, and it appears that it can get pretty detailed, but, it seems like it would take more time than I'm willing to invest for something that is purely aesthetic.

My favorite thing about the game? Well, um, it's fun? There's a lot of machines to choose from (once you manage to buy them) that have a lot of varying attributes. There's even more that can be done in creating your own machine from parts of your choosing. That's pretty cool. But, of all, I think I like the tracks. The tracks are just awesome, and there's 10 tracks that I haven't even seen yet because I have yet to unlock them.

After reading EGMs review... the arcade connectivity thing looks hella cool.

First off, I bet playing the game in the arcade with the bad ass cabinet they put it in is insanely fun on its own. Then factor in the fact that you can unlock tracks and stuff by playing in the arcade = too cool.

Shame the us isnt as big on arcades as japan is.

Fortunately, everything that can be unlocked via the arcade can be unlocked without it as well.

Yea, I sorta hate it when some things are dependent on others like that... Like, for example, the whole GBA Connection to the Gamecube thing... If I wanted to, I could play Metroid Prime while wearing a Metroid Fusion suit, but that's only if I wanted to go blow another thirty or so bucks on it when I could be using that money for soemthing better... I don't know, some people could really get there money's worth outta that tho I suppose. But I like it when you can get it either way too.

How the hell do you turn deep corners? I know you can use the top buttons to sharp turn, but I always just smash into the wall everytime I use them. It just doesnt turn enough.

Am I doing something wrong? Ive lost many races because of that crap.

Try a drift turn. You do that by pressing both L and R at the same time. It will create a hydroplane effect, and you can push yourself out of it into a straight path.
