Packard Bell Hell

My sister god love her, purchased a Packard Bell 333Mhz (Celeron Slot 1) in 1998 and I’ve been keeping it alive ever since.
All the past problems were defective hard drive and a Mobo went south in 2001,up until now these problems seemed simple even at PB standards (I’ve had my share of PB nightmares over the years)
If it wasn’t for some important things she has on it I would dump this thing.
It would seem her newest problem started with a POST error Memory buffer overrun of some sort, by the time she dropped it off to me it no longer boots period!
I’ve changed the processor with same OEM 333Mhz Celeron also switched out ATX power supply and then thought maybe it could be onboard video, there isn’t any jumpers to disable the onboard video and I can’t get into BIOS w/o video.
So what am I missing here (btw: I already tried different RAM).
No audible beeps or nothing!
Sorry about the rant but now I know why PB isn’t supported in the USA lol.
Thanks for any input into this problem.

Sounds like the motherboard may have went South again.
If you do have a video card handy, it's worth a shot even though you don't see any jumpers for the onboard video. Looks like you have tried about every other thing i can think of.
Time to go computer shopping. If she's worried about the information on the old hard drive, just use your computer to set it up as a slave and back up any info she needs.

Thanks for the reply Nocode I did try 2 good PCI Video cards and no good,I started thinking MoBo myself after everything I did,I do believe I tried everything in the book
I'll take your advice and just hookup her HD to another system via slave and copy what she needs.
Needless to say she is done with Packard Bell!!
I know I am..........

as long as the HD is still good, you can pull off the data on another computer. go buy her a dell if she insists on a package deal.

my dell i purchased in 1998 that has 333 mhz still stands. no problems at all so far except it wouldnt run w3 on its onboard vcard.
from what you said, i am glad i didnt go for PB.
good luck with pulling out infos.

Just thougt I would let you know I recovered everything she needed from her HD,I hooked it with my Home built Athlon XP 2600+ Yamaha CRW-F1 burner 512MB RAM NVidia G-Force MX440 Roxio CD-DVD Creator 6.
She was happy to have her files saved,I then took the PB and parted out the usable parts(RAM & CD-Rom was about it ) and trashed the rest.
My sister says she'll invest in a Dell or have me put something together for her
Thanks for the help.
