1st i know very little about pcs..sorry. when i turn on my pc it makes a loud cranking sound, then the desktop takes very long to load, error message about not being able to locate files and constantly asks for an internet connection. My computer is a Gateway, about 4 yrs old, pentium. Would changing the motherboard help with these problems?

Ehh...at the point when you have a 4 year old computer, it'd be a lot better/easier/cheaper to build/buy a new computer.

I'd hafta agree with fibbi. A new mother board wouldn't change the errors and such.

I agree.

Back up any personal files you may have before the hard drive completely dies, so you will have access to those files if you choose to put any of them on a new computer.
