D2LOD Host ONLY of tcp/ip game freezes every 5 - 15 minutes

When hosting a tcp/ip game between 2 or more computers on my home LAN, the HOST locks up every 5 to 15 minutes for approximately 30 to 45 seconds. If I host with a different PC, then it will experience this problem and the other PC(s) will work with no problems whatsoever.
I can play HalfLife, UNREAL Tnmt2003 QuakeArena WormsArmageddon and several other games and NEVER EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM!!!
The conclusion I come to is that there is some sort of problem with the D2LOD program itself. I have all these PC's networked thru a NETGEAR EN106 hub with primo Cat5E LAN cables.
I've also tried direct connect between any 2 PC's with a crossover cable, again only THE HOST will experience this problem. All PC's are XP1700 or faster, all have min of 256mb of PC2700 ram, all hard drives are Ultra133 or better.
If I play online at any of the Realms, I never experience this problem with any of the PC's so it has to be something in the software of D2LOD specifically tied to the implementation of the tcp/ip stack, protocols, etc.
Anyone have an idea on this? Thanks in advance for some enlightenment. SoS
