I am a new user and I am un able to retrieve things from my files after I download.

retrive what from files? the file itself? Is it a zip? Are you saving it to disk?
Be a bit more specific, and then we can probably help you.

you mean your downloading stuff to a temporary internet folder or so, and then losing it in a transfer?

what program are you using to download? find a file you just downloaded by using the windows search function for it, and remember the directory it went to and maybe make a shortcut on your desktop to that folder. or just go into the programs settings and set the files to go to your desktop or a folder on your desktop.

If you are using windows to download and not a seperate download program, when the window pops up and asks you if you what to run/open file form location or save, click save and then desktop. Otherwise it may put it in the temp file where it is hard to find.
