Starcraft crashes in Win XP

OK here is the deal. Whenever I play starcraft after about 10 minutes or so my whole computer just crashes, no error messages it just powers off like pulling the power cord. I have tried reinstalling Starcraft and broodwar, deleting the bncache file and installing Windows updates plus updating all of my hardware drivers. I have also tried running it in compatable mode but that didn't work either. Any other suggestions?

Post your specs.

It sounds like a heat or power supply issue. Do you have a way to monitor your case and cpu temp's? And if you know what your temps are, What are they?

Unfortunately compatability mode does not work any where near as well as MS would like us to believe. Try reinstalling starcraft and broodwar, that did the trick for me. Does this happen on any other games or apps?

OK I downloaded a temp monitor and my laptop was running at 131 degrees Farenheit!!! I realized that it had not been on power saving mode so it was not cooling down properly, I shut it down for a few hours and now it runs at about 111 degrees farenheit and my game runs smoothly. Any suggestions on keeping my laptop cool? Like a cold pad or somthing?

You wouldn't want to use a cold pad, it could cause condensation in the machine which could short it out. You might want to take it in for service, a laptop shouldn't overheat like that.
