[OTS Guide] A Newbie's Guide to PC Components

Hey, now we got a great one for those newbies who haven't the slighest clue what's in their computers. Sure sure, some of you will say "Bah, I know what's in my computer! My RAM is more than 200 geegs! Dell said so!", but come on, knowledge is power. And the best way not to end up staring at some geeks who are doing 'awl dat frickin computah tawk', is to read this little guide here!
Bobaroo (his mom calls him Bobby) has written a nice little guide to help newbies understand what it takes to build a computer. His guide concentrates on the components, along with brief xplanations on what each of them does, along with some recommendations on the best parts to choose.
But don't take my word for it ... read his work, entitled A Newbie's Guide to PC Components ... only newbies and intermediates need apply ... the rest of ya can continue talking about Star Wars or somethin'...

But the audigy 2 aint the best soundcard avaliable

In the guide's first paragraph it says

Also, there is a space missing in the "3. What type of computer do I need?" paragraph at "...what you willuse it for,...".
I'm just being picky and making sure it's perfect.
I've found more small typing errors, but I'm sure someone who can edit it can proof read it and change them.
Got a couple of things you may want to add to it though. In "Cases" shouldn't you mention that Micro-ATX cases can only usually accomodate Micro-ATX m/boards? Also, in the HDD part where it mentions "3 good dive companies" shouldn't IBM be a forth. I've always found them to be good and they get great reviews.
It's a great tutorial. I've been meaning to do something like that for another forum for a while now. I'm just too lazy to do it and it wouldn't have been as good as yours. Reading through it I find myself saying "I would have forgotten to add that".

That would also be wrong grammar in context to the sentence... "using this guide..." is much better

Well, I was the one who did the initial proofreading and I decided to post it without doing a second run ... thanks for the heads up, though... I already made the corrections - feel free to point out some more if you find 'em

IBM's recent drives (namely the 75GXP) have been plagued with defects, not to mention they just "left" the hard drive business several months ago due to OEM losses and has passed it onto Hitachi

best is subjective. I guess I'm just saying that there are a heck of alot of people (me included) who dont think the A2 is the best soundcard you can buy. of course, there are people who think it is.
It definately is a good soundcard

Don't worry, I wasn't criticizing, just trying to help out. I know all too well the wonders of typing things up in word pad and the like. We all make typos.
I didn't know that about IBM. Shame, I have one of their drives and I think it's great. Oh well

I know the integrated sound on the NF2 is really good, but you cant put that in any system.

Its all about personal preference. I know a lot of people love the Voyeger Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card.

Cant really say.... thats like asking 'whats the best car out there'
But like I said- the A2 is a very good card. I just said it wasnt the best because I've had some issues with it (24 bit recording, sluggish software, driver woes).
However, all things considered, I'm happy with it. My choice came between the Echo Mia and the Audigy2. I chose the Audigy 2 platinum because it was a more flexible card that offered more inputs and a good bundle of software.
I dunno... I just had a knee jerk resposne to post when bob said the a2 was the best card out there.
