Did anyone really need an analyst to figure that out?

That's dumb.
As long as they keep making quality games (And they are) with present consoles, I see no need whatsoever for next generation stuff...
I buy the consoles for their games--therefor my concerns lie on the production of games not near as much the people who buy them.
Personally, I hate release titles. The good stuff usually rolls out 6-9 months after the console's launch.

You laugh, but normally sales of a console increase towards the end of its life. Having a huge game library and consoles that can be had for 100-150$ go a long way towards selling them to people who couldn't afford them when they were 300$. So, yes, you really do need an analyst to figure it out.
Edit: Also, a lot of the best games come out towards the very end of a console's life, which also tends to drive console sales.

And as console developers learn more about the console's technology capabilities from other games, they can perfect upon visuals and gameplay issues as well...and with the abundance of games being available later in the console's life, the developers can make these good games, I'm sure that's why that's why the games are so good.
But I'm no game developer, so my post there is rather invalid
Just my two cents...
