Good ping Then bad ping/fps

Ok i log onto b.net good ping fps is at 60, Then after 2 games bam.. I'll be doing some cows my fps will go down 12-20 my ping will bam go up to 1k then back down then back up to 10k ping i'll freeze. After this every game i join will lag.. i have 56k no extra programs running my dad increased memory my vid card is fine everything is fine

How much RAM do you have?
What's your processor speed?
What kind of video card do you have?
What kind of internet connection do you have (dialup, cable modem, DSL)?
