(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

this problem has been brought up in previous threads but never solved

My computer is crashing quite often, by crashing i mean the system totaly shuts down fans turn off everythign is down, except the LED on the motherboard and case. ive noticed this to happen a certain times,
1. when starting up sumtimes it will just stop and i have to keep doin this like u would rev up a motorcycle
2. within the first 5-10 minites of runing windows
3. withing the first 5-10 minits of runing Medal Of Honor
4. when the system has been on for 5-10 hrs nonstop
althouhg sometimes it wont crash and will run fine( go figure ) but i will almost always have the first or second problem

My Specs

CPU --------- AMD Althalon XP 2800+ 333mhz fsb Currently runing at 2.13GHZ
Motherboard - Asus A7N8X Deluxe
RAM --------- Dual Corsair 256mb DDR so it total at 512mb with the 2 sticks
Video Card --- GeForce3 Ti 200
if any other info is needed please ask

also when starting up I've that it will say system running at 169mhz or wutever and then single channel mode, shouldnt it run at dual channel mode?

i will appreciate any help

also system temps tend to be around
30s for motherboard
and 40s and 50s for cpu

All that I can think of is a RAM error
download MemTest to check this theory:

Make sure if you want to take advantage of the dual channel DDR that you have the two sticks of ram in the proper banks.

Also try flashing the BIOS, then use the BIOS clear jumper on the motherboard. You will, of course, need to set everything back up in the bios, but that shouldn't be to hard.

Also, make sure you get the correct version of the flash file, the ASUS A7N8X has several different revisions, get the wrong one, and bad things can happen (Though last time I checked, I don't think the ASUS flash utility will write to the bios if you load the wrong file, could be wrong.)

the stick of ddr im 95% sure are in correct banks,
what are the BIOS clear jumper onthe motherboard, sorry im new to this stuff
i have the newst flash and bios versions so i think that should be fine,
im not home now but ill try this stuff out in a few hours

If you didn't clear the BIOS after you flashed it, bad things can happen. It states in the directions that you need to clear the bios, and refers you to the motherboard manual.

You need to do this, then see if the problem persists.

If you want to know what it is, baisically, its a jumper that you turn on for 30 seconds, then back off, it effectively clears all settings saved in the BIOS.

next time your computer is running for a few hours without you using it, run a thorough scan disk followed by a defrag.

the problems with my system were overheating and memory were in the rong slots

but now... it wont even turn on, i come home from work and it doesnt work, i gt the message on the monitor as if the computer isnt there, i tested video card in other system so its not he video card or the monitor and the computer will look like ti runs like normal jsut no video
