my xp sp1 always open
windows/system32 folder
after it boots.
any one know how to fix it?

also I am new to xp
where is the familiar network neighborhood?
I have a windows 98 wants to be on the same
LAN
(I had two 98 before and know how to do it)
i see xp's network places and went through
the setup wizard, but I don't see the familiar network neighborhood afterward.

thanks in advance for any helps.

Could be a bug, but if you goto the folder stated above and goto tools->folder options...->view (tab) and scroll down to Restore previous folder windows at login (it's near the bottom) and make sure it's unselected. That may be your problem.

My Netowkr Neighbourhood is replace by My Network Places. It is in your Start menu by default, unless you've changed it. Right-Click the Start button and goto Properties. Under the Start Menu tab select Start menu and click Customise. Under the Advanced tab scroll down to My Network places and make sure it's checked.

If that doesn't work then try this:

Start>Run>
Type: Msconfig

Click the startup tab and uncheck everything

Steve,
thanks for the tutorial, it helps get more familiar with xp.

Mr. Wolf,
yes, somehow my startup has some broken command lines
and I think xp opens system32 as a result of "program not found".
thanks.
