Gamecube Disk read error.

During gameplay (phantasy star online, episode 1 & 2, for referance) i got an error where the disk stopped spinning, and i was told to refer to my gamecube owners manual, which was not helpful. I have since tried three of my different games, all of which do no different- my gamecube no longer spins the disc. when initially turned on, if the cover is closed, it will click twice, and then go to the system menu. I've tried it with varying memory cards, with and without the gameboy player, but nothing seems to have any effect.

any idea whats going on? i don't want to drive out to some stupid repair center if i don't have to.

Thx for any aid you might render.

You could send it straight to Nintendo for repair.

My warranty is out, and i want less to have to wait for them to ship it back then i want to not drive for like, 3 hours to fix it. what i'm really looking for is some way i can fix it myself. -.-

not a huge likelyhood for that happening, eh?

Well, in any case, i am probably going to go and get it repaired, and when i do, i'm going to ask the repair guy what the heck is wrong with my gamecube. and if he'll tell me, how he fixed it. =)

unless of course, someone posts a magical awnser to my problem.

yea, don't worry, your not alone in this... I've been having troubles with my cube to... though not quite as dramatic as yours. One of my games plainly refuses to play, and it happens at the same spot everytime I try, the little begining of the actual game. It may sound like it is the game, but it happens with other games to, but not even all the time. It is an inconsistent problem, and it's really bugging me. But I know how you feel in any case, I don't wanna go blow 75 shells to repair it, I think I might just get a PS2 instead... *sigh* I told myself I would never sell out, but what can you do...

hmm... do your games get scratched by your gamecube? just asking

Actually, that isn't so very different from my problem. However, about four days prior to this post my gamecube spontaneously decided to start working properly again. o.O

there is no doubt in my mind that it will mess up again, but for now, i have gaming back. =D

and as for the ps2-buying remark, i've been considering that myself. I really just want to play lots of RPGs, and Zelda, in spite of all it's greatness (and stupid ass cell-shaded graphics.) just isn't enough. :P
