help with car's battery

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: INeedHelp

i don't know that much about cars so here it goes

the old 92 toyota camry LE's battery died due to not using it for some time now, and i have a 01 lexus rx300 that i can connect the battery from and transfer the power

my question is

what are the equipment i need and exactly how do you do it?

i don't mind you guys refer me to some website that contain the above information, thanks for your help

Jumper cables. Connect the cables to the corresponding ends on each battery (positive and negative). Then, start each car (obviously, in a particular order). After that, just let the Camry run for a little while, maybe drive it around for 15 or 20 minutes. The alternator will recharge the battery while the engine is running.

what gun said, thats basicly it unless you wanna buy a new battery

(allso i know your smarter then this but still, dont cross the cables)

Posted by: Gerbilo

lol, i figured thee would have you crossin the cables, fun sparks...

yeah, if the camry hasn't been used in a a long while it may be wise to just get a new battery anyway, jumper cables will be all you need, unless you got a charger pack or something like that.

Corssing the cables isn't just sparks, if you connect them in the wrong way, theres the possibility that it will explode with the force of multiple sticks of dynomite. Just sont ness around unless you really like hospitals.

jumping a dead battery is not recommended with modern cars. you can easily shorten the life of the good one. a tow truck can do it, or you can buy a new battery. or dig up a charger. but unless its an emergency, dont jumpstart a car anymore.

Or get in the Zone

bah, jump starts are a part of life, everyone goes thru it!

i have no choice, my parents doesn't want to spend any money on the piece of crap anymore

the driver side door won't open so i have to climb it in, last time i did that in the von's parking lot, the security guy saw me and he was like "ay what are you doing?!?!" and two front power windows are broken, you can't lift them up, people always throw trash in my car, the struts are all messed up, it's like a spring, a half inch curb with scratch the front of the car, that's how spingy are the strut, and there are numerous problem i don't even know, i'm going to jump start it and my mom is going to take it to this taiwanese/vietnamese car shop and fix it for cheap

hurrr, this reminds me of a scene in 8-Mile, dude...

It was a pretty good movie. If you didn't see it, you are missing out.

Xon's right. Rap sucks, and so does everything that's slightly related to it. Hah, a movie with a rapper in it, what were they thinking?

Posted by: INeedHelp

so jump starting my car will damage my battery? won't a tow truck will be using the same method to jump start the car?

Posted by: redwench

a tow truck has a separate battery they use for jumping. thats what its made for, just like those jumper carts you get on campuses. read the lexus manual, it will tell you not to jump start other cars.

Posted by: Xoncide

im just guessing they were thinking "Bling Bling"

Posted by: Gerbilo

dude, the car sounds pretty shot, blow it up and find a new one is the best i could say... it will probably cost more to fix it than you could get another car in better condition for... with all that you are saying atleast.

I was thinking the same thing.

And dude, take your car and drive it into a wall at 60, that is, of course, if your seat belts are still working. Collect insurance, buy yourself a brand new not-so-shiny beater.

Posted by: INeedHelp

i don't want to drive it, i only drive the car when absolutely necessary, it's purple

Posted by: redwench

and we know that color is the most important factor in choosing a vehicle.

Posted by: TheeMon

umm i didnt goto the theater to see it, btw nova that movie wasnt that good, it was an ok movie but i was hoping for it to be ALOT better then it was, ****ing commericals
