Hey guys how much does a bagel cost?
CALL UP YOUR PHONE COMPANY AND ASK. Different companies have different pricings, and *gasp* may vary from location to location!

I've found that the phone company usually asks you if you have a computer. If you say yes, they'll charge you more for the second line.

Shouldn't you be going to college soon? Then you get broadband, and your dorm

You used to be able to get a 2nd phone line for just internet use for $5-$10 a month. Then Mr. Clinton decided to put a big fat tax on it, and it costs something like $17 per month.
I know someone on dial-up who has a 2nd line thats just for internet and it costs them around $17 per month. If your phone box is not configured for 2 lines, and your house isnt wired for it, you will either have to do it or pay a tech to come out and do it, and it isnt cheap. Theres also probably an activation fee.

I'm guessing it's the same in the US. Here in the UK if you have an ADSL connection you can still use the phone line to make and receive phone calls while you are connected to the net. So, you can use the one phone line for two things at the same time. I'm pretty sure you have the same technology over there.

That would classify in the boardband category, which we do have, but Theemon currently does not have (either due to distance/availability or cost). Since he is using dial up internet, it takes over the phone line.

I don't know where you live, but I work for SBC in California, and before I got DSL, I had a second line for 'net access, and it was $10 and change per month, with no added features or long distance. Just give the local company a call and they'll be glad to tell you how much an additional BASIC line costs. Be sure you tell them you want the cheapest line they have, with no vertical features as call waiting, etc...
Depending on where you live it should be $10-15/mo.
Hope this helps
