making back-up copies of my dvd's

Hi I was wondering if there was any way to get a dual layer dvd movie burnt onto a normal 4.7gig dvd-r. I understand that the dual layers cannot be copied because they are somewhere in the 7.2 or 7.6 gig area, and dvd-r's are just too small. And i know that there is no such thing as a dual layer dvd-r/rw or any type of burner capable of burning a dual layer disk. If anyone has an almost easy way of doing this..... PLEASE HELP!! I'm so sick of making svcd's. Thanks ahead of time..... Jason
