Spec:1gig Celeron,gigabye board, 230ram,32meg tnt2 card.

Since i built my pc a while back ive had this problem with power or something im not sure. i recently added a second harddrive and At the moment when i power off my pc, the hard drive light will stay on. A while back i had the same problem with my cd/rw light, i had to take it back numerous times, once it smashed a cd while reading. I managed to solve it by not connecting my extra hard drive n it would seem its only one of my power cables that causes it. Please does anyone have any ideas ive never seen anything like it.

What's the specs on your power supply?

Sounds like you may need a new one.

by the way does anyone know any sites that sell cheap computer components?

www.newegg.com
www.zipzoomfly.com

is the problem the light, or that the drive is continuing to spin? if its simply the light, it might be aggravating, but of no real concern. if the drive is continuing to operate, theres something very odd going on. although there isnt really a need to shut down modern pcs, except for maintenance. you can keep it running without any real problems.

it is just my HDD light stays on when i power off.

For some reason my cd rom has suddenly stopped spinning up or reading cd's so its useless. Is there a reason for this?
its only an old 24X but could the same thing happen to my cd writer like its done in the past. i cant help think my PSU is faulty.

thanx for all your help by the way
