Asus A7S333 motherboard hangs on startup

I recently bought an A7S333 motherboard with an AMD 2000XP chip. The problem is that every time I try to start up the system, it immediately sends me into the BIOS to select a CPU frequency. When I hit F10 to save the settings and to exit, it shuts down the computer. Any subsequent startups will result in the same dilemma, with the BIOS telling me that the last boot "hanged because of incorrect CPU frequency" and that the BIOS is now running in safe mode. After browsing several forums, I've been presented with a couple of possible causes:

1. Computer automatically shutting itself down because it thinks it's overheating. (Newer Asus motherboards have this feature called COPS which do exactly that)

2. The BIOS version is outdated and doesn't support newer/faster processors

Is there anyone out there that may have a solution? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

What frequencies have you tried? Have you allowed the board to set it automatically?

Make sure you mounted the heatsink properly. If you used too much thermal grease it may be overheating and causing your problem.

The original Bios for that board does support the xp2000+, but a bios flash may still be the answer if you are sure you have assembled everything properly.

You can download the latest Here.

WARNING!!...........Do not flash the bios if you do not know what you are doing, or cannot follow instructions on how to do it.

You can KILL your board if you do it wrong!

If you are not comfortable flashing it, find someone to do it for you that has experience with flashing the bios on motherboards.
