replace mem chips in compaq presario 701z

hello out there. i am working on a compaq presario 701z w/xp home,256mg memory,20gig drive, std video driver. i want to replace the memory chips and i can''t figure out how to remove the lower chip.
the upper is a snap, but i am stummped on the other. please help. any ideas? thanks les kent

im assuming you mean the ram chips, they shuld both be removed in the same way, open the two clips and remove

sorry but it is not that simple. i have replaced many ram chips and have seen none configured this way. i primaraly work on desk tops, so i haven't seen many notebooks. it's not obvious to me thanks for the reply.

Unless you can show us what the RAM slots look like, I doubt we will be able to give suggestions unless someone who owns the same model Presario you have happens to see this question...

Since Compaq has proprietary hardware and they know it better than anyone else, you should try contacting them first (if it's still possible with that old model)...
