Hi there, i have a very annoying problem with this PC. Its only a month old and i'm having problems with it. It's an AMD-Athlon XP 2600 with 512MB and 40GB HD. It runs at 2.08ghz.

The problem is this; it freezes up for no apparent reason. When i quit games or any program it freezes up i try to close an internet window and it freezes up. I leave it on and go out thinking it'll leave screen-saver mode and it doesnt respond. I use ctrl alt del but that doesnt even do anything.

This problem started since i got a virus called w3.welches worm or something like that and Norton cant fix it so i quarantined it. I dont even know if this is the problem but its so annoying to have to restart every time.

If anyone can help please!

ok, that virus doesnt exist apparently, nor in the seperate forms. rescan using this: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and if it cant get rid of it, it should give you instructions on manual removal. you will have to reinstall any files that have been damaged, which might be your OS.

the removal tool is available on norton's site, along with manual removal instructions if that fails.
