REALLY need help with HD not detecting in bios

Hi,

Im having a problem with an HD coming from an old laptop(AST Ascentia 800N, 250Mb).

I needed to backup the data on another drive so I put it as slave in my DELL(I have an adaptor to make it work and have done it often in the past with other drives).

When I did it the 1st time I started the PC I saw the laptop HD get detected in the bios but I had forgot to put power back on my Master HD so i turn off PC.

After this I was never ever able to see the laptop hd in the bios. I tried in my DELL, in another comp and back in the orginal laptop. It doesnt get detected at all. Tried with auto detect and by manually entering spec.

Im no newbie I do this for a living im just wondering if anyone ever had that happen to them and found any way to make it work again. The HD is spinning but the bios dont see it.

Im 99% sure the DELL did something to it cause i talked about it to a collegue and the exact same thing happened to him with an old HD(2gig not laptop) when placed in his DELL.

Oh well any ideas ?

You'll have to find a jumper that fits and then install it to make it a slave drive. Or change your "master" to slave.

Hum no you dont understand its not a simple cable or jumper setting at all.

They are connnected right with the right jumper in place. The master is detected(dell HD) but the laptop HD isnt anymore.

I doesnt even work in its original laptop.
