xp bootup crashes

The tale of collapsing computer table

due to the collapse of said table my monitor went flying off the edge, i managed to catch it(just) but since then on booting up my pc, windows loads up to the main screen and then just crashes, what i get is a garbled screen with 6 or 7 vertical lines and a patchy message, all i can make out on the screen is something about 'physical memory dump' and 'adequate disc identified'.

this is my second problem in a week, last week it was a problem of my pc freezing whilst on the web, and all i could do was turn off the power, and on booting up it just kept looping,

boots up, goes into standby, boots up, standby etc.

but this loop seemed to correct itself after the 15th startup.

could these problems be related or is it just a case of the monitor sliding around yanking a cable loose.

hope you understand my illiterate ramblings

physical memory dump or a disk error would have nothing whatsoever to do with the monitor. those would be from internal hardware, probably a continuation of your previous problem.
