hardrive help!!!

K i got a virus on my hardrive so i did a full erase on my hardrive but before i did that and reloaded everything i used my old hardrive to load my pics music ect to save and it worked
so after i unhooked my wires and rebooted and reloaded windows drivers ect and when i hook up a 2nd hardrive it doesnt read any hardrive and wants to book from a disk but as soon a unhook my 2nd hardrive it finds my master drive a maxtor 60 gig u guys no any way to get my hardrive to boot up so i can save my shit off of it thanks ?

Ensure that the second drive is set for slave. If that does not work, try using a diferent IDE cable or configuring master and slave in the bios.

i do it doesnt like the hardrive i guess now i tryed everything i put my maxtor as master drive and my other scrap drive set to slave and it doesnt read my drive it makes no sense it doesnt read any drives ?

it wont read soon as i have 2 hardrives hooked up it then reads none alls i can do is set slave or master with jumpers its dumb

I tryed it but nothing worked , it just says "none" for hardrives and says boot system disk when i have my 2nd drive hooked up, soon as i unhook my older drive and my maxtor is the only 1 botting it goes right to windows otherwise it acts stupid it hates me lol i have a cd drive a dvd /cdrw and a floppy a drive and my 60 gig maxtor as my master drive it will boot fine with that setup soon as i hook on my slave drive a older western digital 2.5 gig hardrive which has music and old files from before i reloaded windows so soon as that hooked up no drives at all show up and it loads and says " none" for master and slave and reads " boot system disk when ready hit enter and wont load soon as i unhook my w/d slave drive windows will boot i dont get it i thought it might be just that hardrive so i hooked up my old old hardrive a 1 gig and it still did the same so then i tryed 1 of my other newer drives a 10 gig maxtor and does the same it doesnt like more than 1 hardrive it seems i dont no why i have a msi motherboard with a 60 gig hardrive cd driver cd burner /dvd burner with a pentium 4 1.5 ghz with 512 mbs of ram need help its not like i have a old system its only 1 year old need help thaks???

sounds like your bios or motherboard has an issue. check into bios updates. also, read your manual. (yeah, i know, fascinating stuff) see if you need to do special voodoo rituals (aka jumpers on the mobo) to enable multiple hard drives.

Yeah i no its a lil strange it cant be that though cause it worked when i hooked it up before and loaded all the stuff onto the hardrive and then soon as i unhook it and reload windows it has to act ****ing gay lol i think its cause this time i didnt use my maxblast cd with installing my 60 gig so it might not reconize shit but the 60 gig and doest like more than 1 drive so maybe thats why it says " insert system disk and hit enter" so im gonna try my windows cd or the disk cause i dont have a boot disk for windows 2000 so i dont no thanks for ur help its just a weird computer lol

MY master drive is a Diamondmax plus 60 gig ultra ata 133 7200 rpm kit #L06j060g and s/n: 663206456454
and a Seagate st31081a/ cfs1081a 2080 mb 2 gb which is my slave drive thats all i no about the drives lol is that enough info ?

well I learned a long time ago to use maxblast on maxtor harddrives. You should be ok without it but safer to use it.
What jumper configuratuion is on your slave drive? are you shorting pins 1&2, 2&3, or none?
What jumper configuration for your maxtor?
can you post a picture of the ide cable conencted to the drives?
we'll get it figured out.

well i have the 60 gig hooked up as the master drive and its jumper cable is set for master and the 2 gig is set for slave which is no jumper pin on the back i have the slave hooked up on the same cable as my master and i have tryed doing it all other ways possible too and it still does not boot and no sorry i dont have a camera i cant take pics of my setup but i have a typical setup for the drives it makes no sense and i did load maxblast and it still does not work with the 2nd drive hooked up or any 2nd hardrive its weird

You have ensured that your Bios is set to detect any new found harddrives and checked that it isn't set to start up on the harddrive that doesn't have a OS, right ?

yeah lol and its like soon as i hook up the new drive no drives are reconized and i made sure in bios to detect and it wont its crazy

yeah i no ive tryed everything so i gave up on the hardrive im gonna buy another new drive when i upgrade next ill put my new drive mos likley a 80-120 gig and use my 60 gig as the secondary and see how the system will react to both new drives both installed with maxblast and set the jumpers and see where i stand wish me luck lol !!!!
