Look i just bought the half-life platinum collection and it doesnt want to let me play online. It says i am using a different protocall than all the other players and something about downloading the custom game. I also have cable internt. Can you help me. I really want to play cs.

Get all of the patches for CS and HL, I believe that Platinum is v9 and the current is v10 and v11

Yeah, you need the latest version of Half-Life to play online with other people. I don't know the platinum version patches, but you can get them at a variety of places.
