Speaker/headphone problem

I am using a Z-340 w/ an nForce 1 mobo. When i was using my speakers last night, as i took the headphones out, the speakers didn't unmute themselves. The sound still works through the headphones, but when they're unplugged, the speakers don't even hiss (at full vol). Can anyone help me?

when you took the headphones out you might have disconnected power somehow.

is there a switch actually in side the socket that when a jack is inserted it mutes the speakers, effectively pushed to the on position and then when pulled out the switch "pings" back out thus reactivating the speakers, if so has it got jammed?.........just a guess..........
