I just bought an asus motherboard and a 2.4 ghz intel pentium chip will mandrake9.1 run on this without problems

This may depend upon other things such as the amount of RAM on board as well as hard drive space and what not. How much RAM ru running by the way ? I would suggest at least 1024 ddr. I'm not saying you couldn't run it on 512 but I think you will see a noticeable difference by adding the second stick. Besides, why not ? It's so damn cheap !
