Hi folks, i was wondering if you guys could help me. i've been playing Everquest for a year and about 3 weeks ago I started to have these huge lag spikes now and then. Did a tracert and saw that alter.net was mostly responsible for it.... My provider says he cant do nothing about it... so I dont know what to do now.... Tried finding the web site but not sure which one it is.. Anyone have any insight?

This is part of the trace..

10 27 ms 27 ms 55 ms 0.so-6-1-0.XL1.NYC9.ALTER.NET [152.63.22.226]

11 27 ms 28 ms 54 ms 0.so-4-0-0.TL1.NYC9.ALTER.NET [152.63.0.173]

12 123 ms 110 ms 110 ms 0.so-6-0-0.TL1.LAX9.ALTER.NET [152.63.10.14]

13 165 ms 124 ms 137 ms 0.so-2-0-0.CL1.SDG2.ALTER.NET [152.63.29.105]

14 151 ms 123 ms 110 ms 509.ATM7-0.GW3.SDG2.ALTER.NET [152.63.113.233]

15 110 ms 110 ms 110 ms sonyonline-gw.customer.alter.net [157.130.247.254]

16 109 ms 110 ms 110 ms vl21.sdtermswitch-1.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.149]

17 344 ms 233 ms 192 ms vl20.sdtermswitch-2.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.139]

so with 344ms it's kinda hard to play eq..

speaking as a dialup sucker, 344 is doable. most of your lag is from sony, not the routers.

technical issues n stuff should be taken to www.everquestlive.com, use the forums, or email then.
