video card/ motherboard compatibility

I'm building a system with the DFI PS83-BL motherboard, P4 2.8 processor, and 256 M- DDR2700 memory. I was hoping to use a ATI radeon 8500 video card but i'm getting the dreaded long beep, one after another. DFI's site sucks with regards to support. Can anyone advise me ?

pull all the cards out, and then add them back in one at a time. when it doesn't boot anymore, the last card you put in is probably your problem...

This is a brand new startup. There is only one card installed at this point. I've tried other video cards too. They all do the same thing.
One long beep, a second or two of silence then another long beep, and so on. The DFI FAC page sez it could be the video adapter or memory. I've tried other video cards and the mem module is brand new and absolutly installed correctly.I've built a dozen or so computers before and never had a problum I couldn't figure out. Intill now.

I guess this DFI motherboard only supports 4X & 8X AGP cards, Does anyone know if my ATI radeon 8500 64meg card is 4X ? How about a S3 Savage 2000 AGP card? There is no support for 2X cards.

UPDATE:Thanks to those who helped me. I got it going.
