Are you having problems staying connected? Disconnected when going to different webpages. Are you having slow connection speeds lof 35K or less? Getting random error messages when tryign to connect? Your problem is not with your ISP, it's with the phone line between your computer and the ISP's computer.
The first thing you can do is try changing the phone number your computer your computer is dialing to. This may avoid the the bad trunk that you are hitting.
If that doesn't work, you can setup a test to see if the line noise is causing the problem.
For a hyperterminal test do the following:
1. From the Start menu, click Programs, click Accessories, click Communications, and choose HyperTerminal.
2. Double-click the HyperTrm.exe icon.
3. In the Name field, type test.
4. Click the OK button.
5.Clear the contents of the Area Code field.
6. In the Phone number field, type your EarthLink access number, including area code if required for 10 digit dialing.
7.Make sure the correct modem is selected in the Connect using drop-down list.
8. Click the OK button.
9.Double-check that the Phone number is entered correctly. If you need to modify the number, click the Modify button.
10. Click the Dial button to start the connection process.
11.Wait for HyperTerminal to make the connection.
NOTE- Check the terminal window for garbled characters. This indicates noise on the line and the customer should contact his/her phone company to have phone line checked out.
12. In the login field put in the log in name required by your isp
13. Press enter on you keyboard
14. In the password field, type in your password, nothing will change on your screen when you do this.
15. Press enter on your keyboard
again look for garbled characters.
If there is noise on your phone line, then contact your local phone company and request a data line noise test. What they should do is come out to your house with a computer to test the line and then it is there responsibility to clean it up

Also this looks very familiar to me the thread i mean, i have seen this on here before christmas in the same style.
