Compaq TFT 8000 LCD Monitor

I have a wonderful Compaq LCD monitor that I really enjoy using that now has colored lines running down the screen. I contacted Compaq and what they told me was they do not repair, they replace and this one is out of warrenty.
If anyone has a suggestion or knows of a place that might be able to fix it I would be extremely greatful.

play with the horizontal refresh rate? i think powersrtip allows you to modify that.
if the line are all of the same color or with a pattern, id guess something connection grounded out.

The lines are multi colored and in random places
