Virus/Worm Advisory: W32.HLLW.Moega.E

Our friend Memnoch just informed us of a new worm already out in the wild, and this one travels fast and could be a nasty surprise for gamers.

The worm is called W32.HLLW.Moega.E, and it is said to have backdoor capabilities, and attempts to spread through the local network. The worm connects to an IRC server to receive further instructions from its creator. The icon of this worm's executable is similar to the Windows Update executable, Wupdated.exe.

What makes this worm "special" is that it has the ability to "steal" CD keys from online-capable games, which includes the popular Battlefield 1942, Unreal Tournament 2003 and Half Life.
