RAM question

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Ckret_01

Well, I built an Intel P4 2.8 800fsb / Intel D865PERLk mobo / ATI 128mb vid card / 1GB DDR333

I was wondering if I can go up to 1GB with DDR 400? I check a couple of sites Crucial/Kingston and no answers...

Any hints?

Would the DDR400 make a difference?

You're running a 400MHz FSB CPU with only 333MHz RAM. I'd say move to the 1GB DDR400 to get the full performance of your chip

if your board supports ddr400, then you can go up to 4gig usually. 1gig certainly wouldnt make a modern motherboard blink.

redwench -

That is what I am trying to find out. I looked at a few sites and nothing. I treid Crucial and Kingston sites that let U plug in your PC to find what RAM you can install..there was no option for DDR400

go to the site of your motherboard manufacturer.

Yes, 800MHz means it uses 200MHz x 4 FSB.
