hi, havw a set of cornwalls, approx 1979, no bass in one speaker, can anyone tell me the likely cause, woofer is in good shape appearence wise etc.

most likely a busted speaker. Get a new set.
Unless of course that 1979 refers to the price, in which they would be big speakers and not computer ones. In that case, take it to a repair place.
