I am suddenly getting an error message "Abnormal Program Termination" whenever I boot up. I don't know why, but can anyone tell me how to get rid it?

well, a reformat and reinstall should definitely fix it. if you dont want to do that, youll have to tell us what program its refering to.

Reformat and reinstall what? Surely not my C Drive and Windows XP???
If I knew what program it was referring to , I might be able to fix it myself. Do you know how I find out? Thanks!

Only newbies go and format drives as a first step.... its not the proper way of troubleshooting.....

First off, did you try and run in Safe Mode? That should be your first approach to seeing if you can still access your system. If you can still access Safe Mode you can try and run a System Restore to an earlier date when you weren't having the problem.

Let me know how that goes

Thanks for the help but I figured it out - I went to msconfig, startup, and unchecked everything except my virus software. That fixed the problem.
